Former Bethany Bible College Board Member and Chairman of the Board has gone home to be with the Lord.

(September 09, 1915 – May 9, 2009)

Reverend Robert “Bob” Carrington, 93 years young, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, May 9, 2009.

Bob served on the Board of Directors for Bethany Bible College for 18 years and 8 of those years were as the Board President.

He was instrumental in working with former District Superintendent W.T. Gaston, when scouting for property in Scott’s valley, which resulted in the movement of the District office from St. Helena, California and Bethany Bible College from San Francisco.

Bob was a graduate of Southern California Bible School (now known as Vanguard University of Southern California), Costa Mesa, California and he held an honorary title of Doctor of Divinity from Bethany Bible College.

He was minister with the Assemblies of God for 70 years.

Bob has served as pastor in the following Assemblies of God churches: Nevada City, California (1939), St. Helena, California (1943-1945), Bethel Temple, Turlock, California (1947 – 1976), Church of the Highlands, San Bruno, California, (1976-1979), Clayton, California, (1979-1980), and Valley Christian Center, Ceres, California, (1980-1997).

Aside from his service to Bethany Bible College, Bob served on numerous boards, committees and held a number of influential positions within the Assemblies of God: He was the first full time President of Christ’s Ambassadors, for the Northern California/Nevada District. He served as sectional and executive presbyters in the Northern California/Nevada District and as general presbyter at the General Council. He was instrumental in helping to establish the Assemblies of God, School of Missions and served four years on the original Missions Board. Additionally, he has served on the World Evangelism Board for the Northern California/Nevada District.

There was nothing greater for Bob than sharing Jesus, his love and the knowledge of how Jesus could change your life. At the age of 80, Bob retired from his pulpit ministry and began a new ministry as founder and President of God’s Door Keepers Through God’s Door Keepers, Bob was able to distribute an evangelistic packet, which he had developed, for young Christians, who needed answers (from the Bible) about their “New Life” in Christ. Under Bob’s management, God’s Door Keepers raised financing for the printing and distribution (free of charge) of over 600,000 of these “New Life” packets to chaplains, priest and ministers within prisons system (local, state and federal) across the United States. To date, they have received well over 4,000 letters from prisoners whose lives have been touched by the packets. Bob’s “New Life” packets have found their way into lives across the world. They are being used by ministers, chaplains, Christian worker, priest, and missionaries as a tool to help people grow in their “New Life” in Christ. The packets have been reproduce in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, French and Arabic

Because of advancing age, at 91, Bob chose to pass on the responsibly of God’s Door Keepers. His “New Life” packet continues to share the love of Jesus Christ and the “New Life” that is offered through him (God’s Door Keepers.

Bob had two wonderful partners and great loves is his life, his first wife Josephine Anne Carrington who preceded him in death in 1982 and his wife of 25 years, Barbara Carrington.
