Love Did It

Pastor shared that Mom/Jo had just been diagnosed with colon/liver cancer. All personal goals, everything in life seemed to halt when this happened. At end of sermon all church leaders called forward for prayer and commitment.

A Great Door

Revelation 3:7-13 to church at Philippi. A church with faith will endure and change the world. A tiny group of people told the world about the Saviour. The church building is not the church.

Look Up

1 Samuel 30:6, Psalms 121:1 “My help comes from the Lord,” 1 Kings 19:5 etc. Tomorrow morning Mom/Jo will have exploratory surgery. Pastor says, "I am preaching to myself.” He has been at the lowest place in his life. God doesn't expect us to ignore problems. Tenderness is not weakness. Tears are not weak. He told Mom/Jo in a Valentines note that he had no ministry outside of her. Pastor wanted to die rather than for Mom/Jo to suffer. Stop looking down at the circumstances you are in. Look up! Believe God to do great things.

Give Him a Chance

Matthew 10:4. Judas, a traitor, ruined the name. Yet God chose him as 1 of the 12 Disciples. God gave him a chance. We all are capable of being like Judas. We can choose good or evil behavior, be inconsistent, weak, etc. Jesus knows that and, He chose you. New convert has simple, uncomplicated faith, and is comfortable asking God for anything. The "Seasoned Christian" often gets in the way. W.D. Gaston said, "Jesus show me myself, but please hold me tight."

Faith and Miracles of Grace

Hebrews 11:6, “Believe that He is and is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Pastor reminds us he is speaking to himself as he goes through Mom/Jo's illness. We must believe to have salvation. God does things that we cannot explain.

Stop God by Unbelief

Who knows about Kadesh Barnea? Israel saw Giants and did not trust God. God said “You shall know my breach of Promise." 40 yrs. later they entered Canaan. God is Not bound to answer our prayers if we have unbelief and reject Him. Salvation is by faith. It starts your relationship with God. Told of Wes Steelberg's healing after 7 yrs. (heart transplant, depression, etc.). Move when God moves-the law of faith. Move in His timing. At His time amazing things happen. End of service, all men who were experiencing financial difficulties were asked to look at Pastor. Then, he prayed for them that fear would be removed, replaced with confidence.

Grow Some Faith

Mark 4, Matt. 17:20-faith like mustard seed, Romans 12:3-Paul had a vision of what was to come. Gospel for the world. Churches that preach the Gospel will thrive. All pastoral staff has been attacked by The Enemy in the last few weeks. It is spiritual warfare against evil. "Vultures" are those who seek to destroy your faith. Cultivate an atmosphere wherein faith can grow. Fear is the greatest threat to faith. When you do not see answers to prayers, break up the soil (of your soul). Remember we serve the God of the impossible. Seven or eight people responded to accept Christ. Many had “impossible problems.” Communion Service.

Look to the Trees, Faith

Matthew 13:31, 17:20. Kiplinger Newsletter re economy and recession and comments on the media. If you have the smallest kind of faith it is enough. God has given each person a "measure of faith." Mustard seed faith - How to grow faith instead of making the problem bigger, don't pretend it isn't there, but put it at a level you can handle by faith. A missionary in China wrote that they didn't know why but had been "praying furiously" for Mom/Jo Carrington.

Three Gallons

Psalms 27:14 Wait on the Lord…he will strengthen your heart. Faith develops patience (wait). We want it done yesterday. Mom/Jo/Jo asked Pastor to sit by her and read The Word. Pastor was devastated (by her diagnosis), as low as he could get. God gave courage. A woman of the church told Pastor that "a measure" (as in a measure of faith from 3/14/82 sermon) in Greek is between 3 - 10 gallons. Take the smallest measure of faith and it is enough.

Like a Flood and Where to Put the Comma

Pat Kelley sang "Now I Belong to Jesus." Isaiah 59:16-Where do you want to put the comma? Exodus 14:14-The Lord will fight for you and you shall hold your peace. When the Lord comes again, he will come in power. He will not be defeated, nor will His people. The Enemy will not defeat me. Be a warrior. When people believe, something happens. When the Enemy comes are we going to build him up or praise and trust God? Look for the good news, the positive. Look for what God can do in every situation.
