We’ve made God too small

Isaiah 59:16, Exodus 14:14. When the enemy comes in, like a flood the spirit of the Lord shall rise. Told about Marcela who was discouraged and how God provided her needs. Don't give up when answers don't come to you right away. We will not be defeated. No matter how low you are, God is there. People don't see miracles and answers because they give up too easily.

We are important to God

Man is made a little lower than angels. God got angry with Moses for saying he couldn't do the job. God used Gideon though when God called him, Gideon had no armor. We all thrive when someone says, "You are wonderful." Pastor liked imaginative people, people who find new ways to lead people to Jesus. Motto of Youth for Christ, "Geared to the times and anchored to the Rock." Not one of us is good enough, yet we should not put ourselves down. Jesus wants you, no matter what has happened to you. Give yourself to him as you are. Alter call. Communion Service.

Commitment Set Free

Exodus 10:10-11. Music by Ceres voices at beginning and end of service. Pastor Tatum prayed at end of service, more music. Honor Jehovah. Do not compromise your position. You will be freed. Plagues of Egypt. Told of a pastor who insisted that members of the church be at every service. Started with 6 people in evening service and church grew and grew to over 1000 people. If you want to know how to act as a Christian ask someone who isn't. You may as well be a "fanatic" 100% Christ follower. No promises in The Book work unless you are committed to Christ.

At your lowest – Never give up

Genesis 28:10. Even when at your lowest point, you are not finished. God showed Jacob a gate and a promise. We often don't listen when times are good. Jacob was a failure, and most of us have experienced that. In a dry place? Never give up. Story of Elijah and Elisha. Get in there and fight! God didn't pick you up to be a failure. He chose you. "You are mine because of My Son. He has a special place for you. He will lift you up. Do not be hopeless. As I often say, "I go forward from here." Place yourself in God's hands. Lift up your soul. He chose you!

Remember God’s Work in You

Father's Day. Sandra Latino sang, "Consume Me". Similar sermon to 9:30 AM. Some of our fears are real, others are unfounded fear or superstitions. We almost never read or hear positive info. About our government in the news. Yet, everyone wants to come to the USA. The Enemy wants us to be depressed and discouraged. Many of you are looking for work, worrying about tomorrow. The other side of this is to remember: (1)the Lord's promises (2) The Lord's presence (3) Believe and remember experiences that back up your Faith. (I am preaching to myself.) When the horror of great darkness comes, you pray and remind yourself and God of the answers to prayer, i.e., "I remember the job you got me ten years ago. I remember you healed me five years ago. Stand on the promise. Keep your faith. Grab the reality of that experience.

Praying Big Prayers

Jeremiah 33-is anything too difficult for God? 32:26-27-call to Me and I will answer. Wait, don’t be discouraged. I’ve been preaching to myself over the last several months. I'm sharing with you some of these thoughts. Olivia, My Granddaughter asks, "Grandpa, what is my treat?" every time she sees me (and she will see me later today). Sometimes I think that's too much, but we often do not expect as much from God as he can give. We make God too small and therefore our prayers are small. My favorite scriptures are: Ephesians 3:21-able to do exceedingly more than we ask or think; Isaiah 54:6-no weapon formed against you shall prosper and Matthew 6:33-seek you first. Recalled a trip to Wales when Mom/Jo had excruciating ear pain. Fred & Joan Carrington (eldest son and wife who will be at next service) and the Delharts were there. They prayed all night and put hot oil in her ear. The next day the doctor said she'd had a boil that had popped. Back at home the doctor thought she would need more treatment. None needed. Pastor reminded us to remember the things God has done for us and miracles that have happened, when we come to The Lord for answers to new problems. Shared story of the first church they pastored in Nevada City.

Weapons of Warfare

Ephesians 6:10-18, 2 Corinthians 10:4, Hebrews 2:14-15, 1 John 3:8, John 12:27 Put on the whole armor of God...that you may be able to stand. We are in a spiritual war of righteousness vs. darkness. Talked about world, local and individual conflicts in 1982 that will continue until the Lord rules. Our weapons are the Spirit and sword of the Lord. Commit to Jesus as Lord and Savior and you will be amazed at what happens in your life.

Standing on Holy Ground

(Sound problems. Garbled voice) . Exodus 3. God tells Moses he is on holy ground at the burning bush. Talked about visiting Bastion, Belgium and Luxembourg American war cemetery. Described praying fervently for someone while driving. God wants us to recognize His power and presence. At times you know that God brought you to a special place. You are to be leaders in your community. It is hard to fathom God even thinking of me that way, but when you draw near to Him, He draws near to you...And, anything can happen.

Take Joy

Isaiah 12:1-6. Every time you come to church expect something different. Acts 8:5-8-There was great joy in Samaria; a city much maligned. John 15:11-I spoke these things that your joy will be full. I think Jesus and disciples had a good time walking and traveling together. John 16:24-Ask and you will receive. I think God wants us to open up to our community, all races and status of persons. There should be no cliques. Christ's family is here. This place should be a place of joy and harmony, with the Holy Spirit at work in our lives.

Faith is the Key

Faith is the Key in '83. Luke 9 and 10. Put it into practical use. God intends every one of us to be leaders. I am speaking to leaders.
